Be your own kind of Beautiful

"A flower doesn't think of competing with the flower next to it... it just blooms"

Let's start off with something I'm sure everyone reading this will be able to agree with; no two people are the same. Everybody is different, for better and for worse. I remember reading a tweet someone posted saying how they would never want to be anyone else apart from themselves, because everyone else is already taken. We are all different, unique, and beautiful in our own rights. Even something as small and insignificant like a hair falling from your head is a piece of your unique DNA, and nobody else in the entire world has the exact same hair.

So if we can all agree that no two people are the same, why is it that we have such a strong desire to be someone else? Whether it's youtubers, celebrities, or artists, we all have an idol or someone we look up to that we look at and go 'damn, I wish I was more like *blank*' Or at least I know I do.

But being your own kind of beautiful requires you to look in the mirror, and find beauty in who you are, inside and out.

There's absolutely nothing wrong about taking inspiration from the people around you- I do that all the time, it's even evident in this little blog. But when you start wanting to be like them, you begin to wish yourself away, and that is one of the most terrible things you could do to yourself.

You aren't perfect- and you never will be, no matter how long and hard you strive to be like your icon. You know why? Because they're not perfect either. You might not see it on screen, but they have their faults. They have moments where they lose it, and they often look at themselves wishing they were someone else, just like you.

One of the most beautiful, wonderful things about being human is that we are different, and that should be seen as an advantage.

You are not the same as everyone else, you are set apart, and you are special. Use your uniqueness to do great things, and you will start to see how you can be your own kind of beautiful.
