The world is such a beautiful metaphor for life. Take the weather, for example. At times it can be absolutely wonderful and warm, which I love and other people hate, and at other times it can be freezing and snowy, which I hate and other people love. For one person, a situation could be inspiring and life changing, but for another it can tear them apart. Furthermore, as anyone in Scotland will know, the weather changes constantly. One day the sun is burning your skin and the next the wind and rain is howling.
Life is like that too.
Even the happiest, most positive people go through tough times, and get stuck in places where they hate their life. But they don't let that define them. They see the disaster as a challenge- a test of their strength. They look at the storm square in the eyes and say "You were blown my way so that I could become stronger because of you. So I'm going to endure through this storm. I can't make it go away, and I don't want to be happy about it. But there is one thing I can and will do- endure"
But sometimes, even the happiest, most positive people have negative thoughts, and get stuck in places they don't think they'll ever be able to get out of. The difference between a positive person and a negative person isn't that one does and one does not have negative thoughts. It is that the positive person simply doesn't let these thoughts control them. Yes, they have thoughts that tell them that they should give up, but do they? No. They keep pushing forward. I want to challenge you to keep pushing forward.
It doesn't matter if you're having the time of your life, or feel like this situation you're in right now will be the end of your life. It doesn't matter. Stop holding yourself back- you can be a positive person in a negative situation. Even if that negative situation is your mind. Don't let the negativity define who you are as a person. You are a wonderful creation, a beautiful soul, an intricate and detailed mind and a heart full of love. You are meant for so much more than what your mind tells you. Don't let your mind hold you back from greatness. If you aren't happy, make a change.
And most importantly, stop waiting for that perfect person to come and sweep you off your feet. You don't need to look for the person who you believe will change your life and make you feel okay again. You've already found them, just look in the mirror.
Harness your anger as motivation, and use your sadness as a reason to strive for happiness.
